Juxtaposition photography places contrasting elements side-by-side in a single frame to create visual interest, tension, or meaning, often highlighting disparities in age (old/young), light/dark, nature/man-made, or scale, prompting viewers to notice unexpected connections and reflect on deeper stories or ideas, like wealth vs. poverty or past vs. present.

An image taken in the kitchen which may include “In the kitchen” photography which can mean Food Photography or Kitchen Interior Photography but also considers an event or situation arising in the kitchen.

Cold
A picture which captures the essence of the the word cold – which generally means a low temperature, lacking heat, or the sensation felt from such low temperatures, but it also describes a lack of emotion (unfriendly, detached), a type of illness (respiratory), or being knocked out (unconscious). It can refer to weather (cold day), food or a cold stare(cold pizza), a feeling (shivering), or personality (cold stare).

Black & White
A captured image using varying shades of gray, from black to white, instead of using the full spectrum of colours. This removes the distraction of colour, placing a spotlight on the elements that truly make up a photograph—light, shadow, texture, and composition. This varies from monochrome where a single colour shade is permitted.
